Tribute

The events that took place on September 11, 2001 have forever changed us. This is how I dealt with my feelings on that day. As for those who fight for our freedom, I cannot express to all of you what it means to me that you are willing to defend my right to be free. There are no words. Only prayers. So many prayers for all of you, that the heavens reverberate with the sound of our wishes for your safe return. You are deserving of our respect, our gratitude and our love. Godspeed

Unshaken Faith

Awaken, bright and cheery/ To a fresh and sunny morn/ Speak to a friend in greeting/ To find our world has torn/ A senseless act of evil/ Brings us to our knees/ Taking lives so innocent/ Causing anguished pleas/ God have mercy on this land/ Come quickly and enfold/ The thousands who were taken here/ Their tragic end now told/ Lead them home to place their names/ Upon the Golden List/ Of heroes, each and every one/ For they are surely this/ Then touch Your Hand upon the ones/ Who have been left behind/ Help us keep Your Loving Words/ Foremost in our mind/ For we will need Your Strength, My Lord/ From this moment on/ To replace hate with hope and love/ And honor those who are gone

Godspeed

He kisses her just one more time/ And holds her extra tight/ His shoulder wet with all her tears/ She'll be alone tonight/ He kneels to touch his daughter's face/ And clasp her tiny hand/ He knows from looking in her eyes/ She does not understand/ His father looks upon the son/ Who fills his heart with pride/ Not letting his boy see the fear/ That harbors deep inside/ Then Mama looks, and in her face/ He sees a Mother's pain/ Of letting go, not knowing if/ She'll see him home again/ He knows of all these agonies/ Yet proudly stands to fight/ For freedom and for those he loves/ He'll gladly do what's right/ He represents our sacred force/ Of men and women too/ They'll lay their lives down in defense/ Of Old Red, White and Blue/ Although I feel quite powerless/ To make this go away/ There is one thing that I can do/ I bow my head and pray/ Lord, heavy have our burdens been/ As tragedy unfurled/ To take the lives of many and/ Forever change our world/ And yes, we asked so much of You/ On this, our darkest day/ But my faith in Your Love abounds/ So now to you I pray/ Watch over all the young and brave/ As they defend our right/ Protect them from our enemies/ And guide them thru the night/ Keep them safe, and bring them home/ That they may truly see/ Our pride and utmost gratitude/ For all eternity
