New Poems

These are some new ones, I have written lately, one was for a friend of a friend who won her battle with cancer.

Through You

Let me be the drive that wakes you/ From the grasp of thoughts so deep/ Another dream of restless yearning/ As I shake you from your sleep/ Then once the dream is realized/ And the work is to begin/ Let me hold and gently guide you/ Find your strength from deep within/ You will find me on your journey/ To the summit once again/ In the simplest of actions/ Where you'll go and where you've been/ Look for me in every effort/ Muscles straining, feel the burn/ Feel me touch against your back now/ As you ponder every turn/ You can hear me in your breathing/ Climbing ever higher now/ Let me be the salty flavor/ Tracing downward from your brow/ When the summit bows down to you/ Lifts you upward toward the sky/ I'll be the catch in every breath/ I'll be the tear that brims your eye/ You will share with me such beauty/ More than I have ever known/ And as you ponder new adventures/ We will travel safely home

Laura's Race

Here you are at the finishline/ The race was yours to win/ And though the fight was long and tough/ You have a new chance to begin/ The moments most precious to all of us/ Are yours to enjoy like before/ But something's been added this time around/ You'll appreciate them all the more/ And for those of us who love you/ The best part of your triumph is this/ We can cheer you on in victory/ And share in your happiness.

Angel of Mercy

The hours of dedication/ You give to learn your trade/ Are but a single sacrifice/ That each of you have made/ You'll learn the complicated terms/ And every type of pill/ How to read the subtleties/ Of every pain and ill/ But all the books and manuals/ Can only teach so much/ It takes a special person with/ A gentle caring touch/ When illness makes them weary/ And they're filled with pain and fear/ Be the quiet voice that tells them/ "It'll be okay, I'm here"/ Even when the tasks at hand/ Seem trivial to you/ Remember they depend upon/ The little things you do/ When dignity seems buried/ Under necessary tasks/ Let there always be humanity/ Behind the gloves and masks/ Then you will take your place among/ True angels here on earth/ They heal the body, mind and soul/ Knowing each has it's own worth/ Now as you dedicate your life/ Recite the Creed with pride/ And may the angels from above/ Be forever at your side ................................................................................................................................
