About Family

My family is the very core of my existence, even as it continues to grow. What started me writing poetry was the sheer magic of my grandson's birth. This page is dedicated to him, in hopes that someday he will enjoy seeing what he inspired.

Robbie

The night you came into this world/ Will always stay with me/ I took one look at your sweet face/ And loved you instantly/ The night was long and we were tired/ But it was all worthwhile/ I saw your Daddy burst with pride/ I saw your Mommy's smile/ Your Daddy came into the room/ Tears welled up in his eyes/ "I have a son!" he cried out loud/ "A perfect little guy!"/ My firstborn son was now a Dad/ And as he looked at me/ He said "I am the proudest man/ That there could ever be"/ He brought us to your Mommy's room/ I cried and hugged her tight/ "No gift from you could mean as much/ I have been blessed tonight"/ Then as I wiped my tears away/ I took you in my arms/ I promised you I'd hold you close/ And keep you safe from harm/ I looked upon your cherub face/ And whispered, "I love you"/ You are my heart, my gift from God/ You're Mamere’s dream come true.

Robbie's First

I can’t believe a year has passed/ Since the day you came to be/ But one thing I am certain of/ You mean the world to me/ Your infectious smile and big brown eyes/ Can brighten any day/ And, oh, that giggle tickles me/ And melts my heart away/ You have two tiny baby teeth/ That you won’t let me see/ But then I get you laughing so They pop right out at me/ You’re quite the little travelin’ man/ As crawl turns into walk/ And calls to Mom and Daddy/ Means soon you’ll start to talk/ I marvel at how big you’ve grown/ And all the things you do/ The more I see of your sweet face/ The more MaMere loves you

Robbie's Second

At two years old you've grown to be/ A special little guy/ I smile at all the things you learn/ As each new day goes by/ Although I am not close at hand/ I love you just as much/ I hold you deep within my heart/ And miss your tiny touch/ I hear your sweet voice on the phone/ When Mom and Daddy call/ To hear "I love you, MeMere"/ Can make the teardrops fall/ Our visits few and far between/ I cherish every day/ Each memory I keep with me/ While I am far away/ Pictures of you fill my home/ I watch you growing strong/ I marvel at the words you speak/ or when you sing a song/ Someday you'll come and visit me/ We'll see the sights and then/ I'll think of all the fun we had/ Till I see you once again/ But while we are apart, my dear/ Remember one thing true/ The one thing that will never change/ Is how much I love you HOME BACK NEXT
