Missionary Tim Smith and religion go way back. His parents were missionaries, associated with the Wycliffe Bible Translators. His dad's father is a preacher; just about everybody on each side of the family were either truck drivers or preachers. Smith's father's brother had spent most of his life looking for love; a couple strong relationships have kept him to get her in times of many disappointments and bad relationships. Tim's father soon joined the mission to work in the trucking department. "My mother's grandpa was an old-school missionary to India," Tim said, smiling. "That side of the family has some creative, imaginative, but conservative, people in it." Her dad was a huge conservative, which entails being a religious, anti-communist, and believing in many conspiracy theories. Still, he loved nature, where he was working an almost picture-perfect farm. he was inventive, witty, and enjoyed, solving puzzles that use logic and performing magic tricks. Tim's uncle follows the same tradition created by his mom's grandpa, which include the following, being convinced of global conspiracies, and being extremely devoted to self-proclaimed religious leaders. He is also a big reader, and has a sharp mind and a good sense of art and natural beauty. "They did their best to give us the freedom to make our own choices," he said, looking off into the distance. Tim Smith's immediate family seems normal, with a not-surprising childhood. The church he attended played a major role in shaping his morals, standards, and views of the world. He and his family went to church whenever it was open, had Bible studies during breakfast, played Bible games in the car on long trips, and generally made religion the revolving point of their lives. After all that he is now a missionary to Russia where he is working on building churches all over. |
