In Passing

I fell by and saw you on my way down again
No name nor voice just a pretty face
A glint in your eye blinded me to fate again
And I didn’t realize I’d hit ground in that same sad place

And riding myriad emotions
Pulling me this way and that
Through my imagination; the sands in my minds eye

I imagine you reaching out to pull me from the ocean
Or do you push me under to drown
Poisoned sacraments to feed the mass
Till I heard their screams and pulled my head from the sand
And in passing I saw your cerulean eyes frozen into a stare

I fell by and saw you on my way down again
Ragged flesh hanging off exposed bone
Just another pretty face
A smile, but there are too many teeth
Is that a death scowl that opens your face?
Was that glint still in your eyes when the raven drank them
He saw no vision of me in your final moments
You were dead before I met you
Eaten from the inside out

I fell by and saw you on my way down again
Ruined remnants of a great megalith
Stones tumbled and fallen to reveal your innermost desires
In passing I called out to help you
But I couldn’t remember your name.
