Chapter 1

A think fog covered the remains of Tevra. This small city had once been beautiful and productive. Now it remains still. No sound, No light, No life. There are only remnants of the live once lived here, only fragments of memory scattered by the wind.

The sun no longer shines here. Eternal darkness is it's fate.

The shadows move as if they have minds of their own. Pages of scattered book flip and turn, yet there is no wind to make them stir.

The city that lies before you was once a bright and shining place where everyone was loving and trusting. Too trusting, for that is what lead it to fall.

As the clouds rolled in around them and the darkness began to flood the city, civilians began to flee, fearing what wrath they might have to face.

The ruler of this small city held his ground, foolishly thinking that his small army of mortal men could win this war against darkness, Such darkness no one could conceive of.

As they trudged into battle not one knew the outcome, not one knew the results, but one by one the fell, victim to the darkness. Then they all knew.

Once it passed the small army the city was consumed. Houses were burned, horses and livestock killed, and innocent women and children shackled and chained.

Tevra had fallen in darkness and despair. No rule and no order.

Few survived the massacre, but those who did only lived for a short while after, for their mutiny angered the gods.

There was bo leadership so every man fought for himself, leading to more blood and death. A man would slaughter his own brother over a petty argument. This in itself made the gods angry enough, but it could be dealt with on it's own. It was when men began challenging the power of the gods and causing even more trouble by proclaiming their own power, that the gods acted. Fire rained down from the heaven, causing tevra to go up in flames, yet again.

Their small makeshift shacks burned leaving nothing but smoldering ashes and the stench of burned flesh. It looked as if all life had been ended. Had it? One life had been spared. The life of a Small child. A boy, only ten years of age.

He stood on the hillside overlooking the city, and through the darkness watched as the smoke rose up over his home.
