Hi! Welcome to my page about the "lost songs." By "lost songs," I mean the songs that are on the OLC only. These include "Little People" and "I Saw Him Once."
“Little People” is sung by Gavroche right after “Look Down: on the OLC. It's a really marvelous song, and I have no idea why they cut it! Ian Tucker as Gavroche does a very nice job with it. Although his pitch is rather flat at times, he puts a lot of spunky street kid emotion into it! The song is constantly punctuated by amused laughter from the cast. I thought that it was a bit exaggerated, but it really contributes to the spunky, funny mood of the song. The music corresponds to the “Little People” on the other CDs nearly the whole time; a few lines are also shared.
Libretto:
They laugh at me, these fellows, just because I am small
They laugh at me because I’m not a hundred feet tall
I tell them there’s a lot to living here on the ground
The world is big but little people turn it around
A worm can roll a stone, a bee can sting a bear
A fly can fly around
A sparrow in a hat can make a happy home
A flea can bite the bottom of the
Pope in
Goliath was a bruiser who was tall as the sky
But David threw a right and gave him one in the eye
I never read the Bible, but I know that it’s true
This only goes to show what little people can do
A worm can roll a stone, a bee can sting a bear
A fly can fly around
A sparrow in a hat can make a happy home
A flea can bite the bottom of the
Pope in
A flea can bite the bottom of the

So listen here, Professor, with your head in the clouds
It’s often kind of useful to get lost in a crowd
So keep your universities, I don’t give a damn
For better or for worse, it is the way that I am
Be careful as you go, ‘cause little people grow!
And little people know when little people fight
We may look easy pickin’s, but we’ve got some fight
So never kick your dog because he’s just a pup
You better run for cover when the pup grows up
And we’ll fight like twenty armies and we won’t give up!
A worm can roll a stone, a bee can sting a bear
A fly can fly around
A sparrow in a hat can make a happy home
A flea can bite the bottom of the
Pope in

“I Saw Him Once” is also sung on the OLC. It's the first song on the second CD, and is part of the "Love Montage" (I Saw Him Once, In My Life, and A Heart Full of Love). Cosette (on this recording Rebecca Caine) sings it; it's very sweet and pensive. Rebecca Caine does a great job with it. She doesn't have the strongest voice, but her light, flowing, pretty voice fits well with the song. Again: How could they cut it?
