Hi again! This is my dream cast for Les Miserables with little explanations for each one! Some of my choices will probably be controversial... but here they are!!!
Jean Valjean: Colm
Wilkinson
Actually, picking Colm as JVJ was a difficult choice for me. Gary Morris was my "first" Valjean (my first CD was highlights from the CSR), and I'm still rather partial to him. However, Colm is the original Valjean, and he has a great voice that fits the role...so, he made the list!
Javert: Phillip Quast
Phillip has the best interpretation of all the Javerts. Need I say more? He's absolutely chilling and completely fits the role.
Fantine: Ruthie
Henshall
Ruthie has a great, STRONG voice that carries Fantine's emotions very well. Despite her strange blonde wig in the TAC video, she's still my absolute favorite Fantine. Debbie Byrne comes a close second, but Ruthie wins the prize!
M. Thenardier: Barry James
Barry James sounds SOOOO evil! His cracked voice sounds just like that of an innkeeper, especially with his various cackles and laughs.
Mme. Thenardier: Gay Soper
As my friend said, Gay Soper sounds very small and feisty. She fits the character very well, with her thin and scornful voice.
Enjolras: Anthony
Warlow
My Michael Maguire-worshipping friend is going to hate this, but Anthony Warlow is the ONLY choice for Enjolras. He has a very determined, deep, and rich voice that has defined the character of Enjolras.
Marius: Michael Ball
DUH! Who else could play the role of Marius except the one, the only Michael Ball!? He has a great, emotion-filled voice that is perfect for the character of Marius.
Cosette: Judy Kuhn
Judy Kuhn has a very sweet voice that is also very strong. It carries Cosette's emotions well, and adds a lot of depth to her character.
Eponine: Frances Ruffelle or Lea Salonga
I like both
Grantaire: Anthony
Crivello
Again, I DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT GRANTAIRE, SO DON'T ASK!
