Prose
American Prose has been present in the American history since the 1600s. Prose reflects the the settlement and growth of American life from the times of the colonies to the present. Its purpose was the capture the development and way of life of the American people. This was done through religious writings, travel narratives, and history. Today, this type of literature continues to capture the lives of the American people incorporating different traditions and cultures.
American Prose can be both fictional and nonfiction. Nonfiction prose are mainly biographies and accounts of people's lives. Fiction Prose are stories based on America's past.
American Prose influenced American Literature by introducing Fictional Themes into stories, as well as, American Drama and Poetry.
