E. E. Cummings - poet and painter. E(dward) E(stlin) Cummings is famous in poetry because of his distinctive style in writing - his lack of capitalization, eccentric punctuation and phrasing, and often-childlike playfulness. Famous poems include Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town and book of poems called Tulips and Chimneys.

William Carlos Williams - poet. Born in Rutherford, N.J., he is noted for making the ordinary appear extraordinary through clear and discrete imagery. His works include The Tempers, a collection of his earliest poems; Paterson, a five-part long poem which stirs up a complex vision of modern American life; and Pictures from Brueghel, which he won a Pulitzer Prize for.

Robert Frost - poet. His poetry reflected the places from where he came from. His observations of rural life gave his poetry universal and metaphysical meaning, using informal language, familiar rhythms, and symbols taken from common life. Works include Collected Poems, A Boy's Will, and In the Clearing.
