the Give Freddy Love Page

NOTICE: NOW you can make your Freddy Fandom OFFICIAL! wahoo! by joining the fanlisting i created for him.

okay. every Evo-Lover goes on and on about their poor neglected favorite character; so how does everyone look over the most shunned mutant, by fan and writer alike?

P-Dawg's gonna get it for that one.

no Love for Freddy.

no Love for Freddy?

well, Love to Freddy!

why does no one seem to adore Freddy as much as me? sure, his character development nosedived since... well, season one (hello writers, get with it), but how can people just FORGET HIM? It's pretty disgraceful how lazy and apathetic the writers are toward him, but that shouldn't hinder the fandom.

And yet it does.

come on, we've taken liberties in the fandom, developing characters like Pietro, Todd, Kitty and Rahne when the writers didn't want to. so why have we neglected the Blob?!

oh, come on; what's not to love? a strikingly childlike eighteen year old boy with a bleach-blond mohawk, exhibiting the classic tough guy act. while he does have a bad temper, and shows a bit of a mean streak, he's also extremely sensitive. his feelings are very fragile, and he ends up very protective, of himself and what friends he has. remember this scene?

not that I like ya 'r nothin'.

he "didn't wanna see [Todd] get hurt" ("not that he likes him or nothin'"). he's really just a big sweetie. remember that whole thing with Jean (curse her name)? he's not very good with feelings: especially bad news for him since he's so violently emotional. he doesn't know what to do when he's angry, or hurt, or confused, or how to show affection, platonic or otherwise, really. if one character on Evo doesn't deserve to be left out in the cold, it's Freddy.

ah, the infamous Radish Roses.

Drink Pepsi!

flex those muscles!

i'm crazy about Freddy, i can't lie. ^.^ i've been a rabid, insane Blob fan since i first started reading the comix, so long ago. the Fred i knew then was the classic version; this is a teenager with a bleach blond mohawk (how cool is that?) and a distinct lack of people skills. he does seem to have the same "taunt your enemies as you kick their asses" instinct as Classic Fred (as well as the "taunt your friends all the time, even as you fight side by side" instinct, though it's harder to extrapolate). but this Freddy is insecure, and lacks all the arrogance that characterizes his Comic Book counterpart, aside from it being part of the 'tough guy' front he puts up to protect himself. and maybe Comic Book Fred is a little insecure, deep down (key word, a little); but Freddy is obviously unsure of himself. that's the main difference. if Freddy suddenly got a huge confidence-boost and a monster ego (and aged ten years or so), he'd be the Comic Fred i fell in love with first. Comic Fred isn't stupid, either. He is really, really thick, but he's got a head on his gargantuan shoulders; else how could he think up all those zippy insults? Impulsive, brash, and belligerent, yes; but he can also suprise you by doing something (dare i say it) clever. Our Evo Freddy is the same way. He's thick and impulsive and brash and belligerent, and he's also got the 'teenage male' thing going against him (boys are stupid), but he's not a drooling, vacant man-mountain. Blobs are people, too. I wuvs him so much. ^.^ ::hug:: yay for Freddy! Plus, we need more big boys in cartoons. And big girls, for that matter. ~.~ but that's a different tirade.

The voice of Freddy Dukes is provided by the talented Michael Dobson; you may know him (and his two brothers, Paul and Brian) from many anime shows. Together, the Brothers Dobson form the backbone of anime voiceovers. =) In fact, you watch shows like Transformers Armada, Zoids, any of the Gundam shows, and you'll hear the likes of Wolverine, Cyclops, 'Crawler, and Pietro. Probably others, too.

now playing: "Freddy My Love"
