Detective Harvey Bullock: Tough as Hell

You see a guy in the donut shop; he's over six feet tall, what you'd definitely call 'big', and looks pretty imposing. He's wearing a gray trenchcoat and hat, maybe his shirt is tucked in- maybe it isn't, a few buttons are open at the top, and his tie is barely tied. He's poorly shaven, and there's a toothpick hanging out of his mouth, which he flicks into a garbage can before biting into a donut.

This is Detective Harvey Bullock. He talks with an unmistakable NY accent, and unmistakable gruffnes. You could even call him rude and not be too far off the mark. He's hardly the picture of a good cop; you're probably wondering how he got to Detective. He's always being pulled off cases and suspended, and he's got his own methods.

But the truth is, Harvey Bullock is one hell of a cop. Easily one of Gotham's finest. He's brought down countless 'slimeballs' (as he calls them).

Sure I'm the real Santa Claus. Wanna see my gun?

← that's one of my favorites pics.

He puts on a tough-guy front, and he throws himself into his work. He hasn't got a social life to speak of... which is precisely the idea. Deep down, he's pretty insecure; and he can't be really happy. But he's certainly one of the best at what he does. And to use a cliche, who knows? Maybe someday he'll find happiness.
