The Eve of Vertigo

The wild wind blew in the darkened night,
It sent a chill, giving each one a fright.
The rain came down, drenching all in sight.
All they could do was pray for dawn’s early light.

The trees did sway, bending heavy to earth,
Trying hard to fight for all they were worth.
And in their midst stood a man of great girth.
A smile on his face, making sounds of mirth.

Vertigo slowly raised his hands up high,
Trying to reach into the blackened sky.
He said not one word, but let out a great sigh,
As if with the winds he was trying to tie.

A great bolt of lightning flashed up from the ground.
The deafening thunder left a horrid sound.
He rode that wind as if just floating around
Daring demon or god, he just stared and frowned.

Behind their latched doors, they shook on bent knees,
Sending to their own Gods their own sinful pleas.
For this mightiest of storms to at least ease,
They had offered the virgin, Miss Louise.

Out into the night they sent the scared maiden
To join with this man in his windy play pen.
They ended it all with a simply amen
Just as the clock hours struck two plus ten.

He scooped her up in his arms of power
Like she was no more than some dainty flower
All her virtues he did quickly devour
Leaving her empty before it turned one hour.

Suddenly, the wind died down. He turned to go.
He looked deep into her eyes. How could they know?
Their sinful pleas created a small embryo
That would be known as The Eve of Vertigo.
