I
walked a mile with Pleasure; She chattered all the way.
But left me none the wiser for all she had to say.
I walked a mile with Sorrow and ne'er a word said she;
But oh, the things I learned from her; When Sorrow walked with me!

Walked With Sorrow - Wishing and Believing

Wishing life were not so hard - and things were not so gray,
But somehow, I manage to press on - to another day.
Never giving up the fight - even though I may get weak,
Always finding words - of faith and hope to speak.
For nothing worth the having - was born without some pain,
Therefore, I promise to myself - I shall endure this rain.
Tomorrow, I'm believing - life again will move along,
No more shall I feel sadness - in the tones of this song.
I'll struggle a little harder - until the break of day,
When I shall find no longer - the sky to be gray.
All the doubts and fears - will have been cast off,
And I will realize - it was worth the weary, heavy cost.

I
walked a mile with Pleasure; She chattered all the way.
But left me none the wiser for all she had to say.
I walked a mile with Sorrow and ne'er a word said she;
But oh, the things I learned from her; When Sorrow walked with me!

My Friend
My soul was starved of hope and love;
I knew no light, no life.
You led me to the Prince of Peace,
Who ended all my strife.
My ears were deafened to God's Word;
My eyes, they could not see.
You guided me to Christ the Lord,
Whose love has pardoned me.
My soul is filled with gratitude;
My heart has found relief.
Your faith for me was bright and strong;
Gone is my unbelief.
I sometimes wonder for how long
I would have wandered lost
If in this boundless life of ours
Our paths had never crossed.
