The Truth Remains
By Rhonda Cooley

No matter the wars,
or the battle scars,
the truth remains,
And will break all the chains.
Man and woman few of days,
"Faultering" in many of their ways,
Striving to reach some understanding.
Searching for a perfect landing.
Found each other and made a life,
She became this man's wife.
Though the battle was raging fast,
This couple fought hard to last.
Then through the years the children came,
The woman felt she would go insane.
Trying hard to make a safe home,
Many times she felt alone.
She did not know he felt alone, too,
Often, not knowing what to do.
Because a good example he never had,
Since his old man was always mad.
Life was hard to understand,
And there was no safe place to land.
So this man gave his kids the things he never had,
But he too was often mad.
Never perfect that is true,
But this couple somehow made it through,
Finally, the kids were grown,
And living on their own.
This man and woman few of days,
Had "faultered" in many of their ways,
But had strived to reach some understanding.
While in search of a perfect landing.
But no matter the wars,
or the battle scars,
the truth remains,
And will break all the chains.
The truth is...
This man loved this woman,
And this woman loved this man.
But life was just too hard for them.
Things got out of hand,
Trouble stirred the land.
No more hands to hold,
This story was sadly told.
Divorce was the only way out,
He no longer wanted to shout.
And she no longer wanted to wait,
For this man who had been her mate.
The children of this union would stand strong,
No matter how they were hurt by all the wrong.
Striving to reach some understanding.
Still searching for that perfect landing.
Making mistakes in their lifes too,
Sometimes not knowing what to do.
Wisdom comes with age it seems.
You realize parents do not have wings.
Parents are only human just like you,
Struggling to make it through.
This truth remains,
And will break all the chains.
The truth is...
This man loved this woman,
And this woman loved this man.
But life together was just too hard for them.

Lyrics to background sound:
Listen children to a story that was written
long ago
'Bout a kingdom on a mountain, and the valley folk below
On the mountain was a treasure buried deep beneath a stone
And the valley people swore they'd have it for their very own.
Go ahead and hate your neighbor, go ahead and
cheat a friend
Do it in the name of heaven, justify it in the end
There won't be any trumpets blowing, come the judgment day
On the bloody morning after - one tin soldier rides away.
So the people of the valley sent a message up
the hill
Asking for the buried treasure, tons of gold for which they'd
kill
Came an answer from the kingdom: "With our brothers we will
share
All the secrets of our mountain, all the riches buried there.
Now the valley cried with anger, mount your
horses, draw your sword!
And they killed the mountain people, so they won their just
reward
Now they stood beside the treasure on the mountain dark and red
Turned the stone and looked beneath it -
"Peace on Earth" was all it said.
