The night was clear and crispy
Snow in the air falling free
The children surrounded the fire
To sing their songs with glee
The spirits of all were soaring
Filling their hearts with cheer
So intense their laughter
That happiness brought on a tear
A sleigh-ride would climax the evening
In a horse-drawn wagon so old
Filled with quilts and blankets
Insuring some warmth from the cold
The clippity-clop of the hoof beats
The owls hoot from the tree
The toll of church bells pealing
A glorious symphony
The magic of the evening
The wintery sights they saw
Made childrens' hearts beat swiftly
As they traveled together in awe
What a "special" season
A time for family and friends
Remembering to savor each moment
Before the Wonderland ends
