Lathrop Wells
                                         by Eric L. Giese
When I was just a little boy my Grandpa sat me down.
He told me about a place called Lathrop Wells.
He said it was just a little bitty town.
Pa and Shorty Harris, they made quite a team.
They had come across an un-named town.
It had run out of water it seemed.
Pa and Shorty Harris drilled for water.
They found it , and the town was named Lathrop Wells.
In the lovely state of Nevada, where it gets as hot as Hell!
Many years went past, one day I just had to go.
To Lathrop Wells in Nevada,
however the directions I did not know.
The lovely madam of a brothel helped me find the way.
To say the very least... I will never forget that day!

(This poem is dedicated to my grand father Frank Lewis Lathrop where Lathrop Wells got it's name
and for those interested Lathrop Wells is now known as Amargosa Valley)
