Amenity Prayer

Last night I saw the sun set for the first time, and its light shine upon the treetops and the land and the water with a tranquility of beauty . I have sat and vaguly listened to the hooting of nightowl and the croaking of the frogs feeling as if I have traveled to a Spirit Land.

The days following, the sounds would haunt me at every step, and every moving leaf would seem to be a voice of a spirit flowing through the beautiful rolling hills and winding streams with tangled growth of beauty and I'd be drawn back again.

Every day is a beggining of some new things and every evening indeed with the flow of the next days dawn. I felt as if I was in paradise, a very beautiful parardise. I lay back in the soft blanket of grass and close my eyes and drift off into a distant land.

When waking I dream about things at a great distance and I wonder if my spirtit had actually been there while i was asleep. Sometimes mist blows over the little lakes in the early morning and the loons cry often. I look at the great mountains and I can feel the wind brushing through my hair. I feel a tie with the mountains with the rocks and with the great trees surrounding me in my body and in my heart. The great trees are sacred. They are a special gift from God to us. I feel free now my heart is filled with joy when i see the brook fill with water. Before I only saw through my eyes but now I'm looking through the eyes of God at the land of imaginable distances and infinite horizons.
