TOO FEW REFRAINS

When all the leaves have come and gone
and only wood remains,
and all your chances to write poetry
have gone, with too few refrains,

You'll have your chance to regret your choice
and to wallow in your lament,
but it will be too late to go back in time
and make good on your repent.

Written because I had not written much poetry lately, and some other thoughs reminded of one of Lord Byron's poems.
But I thought about how I had been so inspired when I read a few of his poems I liked, only to find later that there were not so many good ones.
And why? Because poets squander their short lives sometimes, as I am doing now, having not written any in a month or two, due to my mundane duties associated with my current sojourn.
