HE SLAMMED HIS FIST AND WATCHED IT SHAKE

He slammed his fist and watched it shake,
against the table,
wondering where all his yesterdays had gone.
He remembered the day he'd spoke those words-
and he remembered the words that she'd said back.
He remembered the way he'd hurt inside
when he saw the sadness in her eyes.
And somewhere beneath the hollow blowing of the wind
and somewhere between the folds of night,
he'd wanted to run to her and hold her close,
though instead her memories of him slipped from her heart.

wishes he could undo the ... way things blew away*

2001-11-15 - 10:23 p.m.

Shaking away sleep's temptuous calls she folded the cranes. Her hands were tired, but no more tired than every other inch of her, and certainly no more tired than her heart.

'You will never know what I've gone through.' How desperately she'd wanted to know, to understand... Yet she always knew that she couldn't. No matter how hard one tries, each person is different. No one can ever truly understand one another.

Her contempt for him lasted such a short while. She knew she couldn't hate him for long. She knew she never did. She knew that she cared, and that she always would no matter what.

As she folded the cranes, she realized the reason why his actions hurt her so. The tiny crane slipped from her hands. She turned away from her foldings and walked to her room. Nothing really mattered. She figured, nothing really ever did. She turned off the lights and fell asleep. The crane left to blow in the wind.

Made me hate myself and wish I'd... told her everything or at least never left her and always been with her, I've loved her so much, so much so often... and we've missed out on so much from the times I pushed her away because... because she wasn't open enough with me.
