ALONG THE LAKE / QUICK DAYDREAMS

I wrap my palm softly around her cheek, and lean in for a kiss... and then SLAP!.. I'm walking along the shore of the lake, alone. It's cold.
I have my dreams.

Lips lock beneath stars and the night, and my heart goes "Thump thump, thump thump," remembering a woman who never existed.

He pulled her close and kissed her neck passionately. Then he opened his eyes and realized he was walking down the sidewalk of the university.

She had smoken one of the cigarettes. I could see it missing from the box. I reached for it, thinking "Fine, then I might as well too." Then I thought no, even if you have betrayed me, I will not betray you.

He ran his hand along her cheek. She ran the tip of her finger down the center of his chest, just before he could kiss her. Three seconds later she kissed him. She leaned her head against his heart, as he caressed her hair with his beard. He held her. She reached up for his hair, like a desert wanderer for water, running her fingers through his hair as he kissed her on the cheek. She held him close, his heart beating as he held hands with her. He placed his hand on her heart, feeling her "thump thump, thump thump", gently through her chest. Her chest ached -- peacefully. She had never been with someone like this. Never felt with someone liked this. She wished it would last forever.
