POETRY IS AN EMPTY CHALICE

I pour myself in,
trying to fill the cup.
But when I try to drink the memories,
the cup is empty.

When I try to show the cup to others,
they see nothing.
And when they drink from it,
they cannot taste the words
upon their lips.

Let us not live our lives in poetry,
let us live our lives in kisses.

**** 2nd Version:

Poetry is an empty chalice.
When I try to fill the cup,
the cup remains empty.
When I try to drink from it,
I cannot find the memories.

When I try to show it to others,
they see nothing.
When they try to drink,
they cannot taste the words.

Even when they feel some liquor,
they do not understand it.
The cup remains empty
no matter what we do.

We cannot live our lives in poetry,
let us live our lives in kisses.

I was disappointed in this poem, because it was supposed to rhyme initially. And then it ended up not rhyming when I wrote it. Then I rewrote it, but it still didn't rhyme. For the 2nd version: should it be cannot feel the memories? should it be libation instead of liquor? <-- libation has better meaning, worse iambics.
