MORE THAN MY POETRY

I would never have thought
that I could ever want a woman so much
that I would want her enough
to marry her at the expense of my poetry.

But I do,
I want to marry you so much
that I would,
even at the expense of my poetry.

And I'll have to,
because there are some women who inspire poetry,
and there some women who inspire kisses.
And you are the latter.

So I'll marry you, and I'll kiss you,
and I'll give up my poetry.
