DREAMING IMPROBABILITIES

She lay on the floor
dreaming improbabilities,
The arms of far away galaxies
swirling in her imagination.

Worlds with
green and blue leaves
that moved with lives of their own.

Worlds where minstrels
could be heroes,
and bread and shelter
were enough to make one smile.

Where simple country folk
smiled genuinely when they met
and said hello to squirrels
starlings, and geese.

Where playing the piano
was an occasion
to stamp and laugh
and to not miss a note.

She lay on the floor
dreaming improbabilities.
