A young breeze kicked up the old leaves and they swirled around catching the sunlight like glints in a young eye staring at dreams in the heavens between the stars and the clouds, -and then an older gale rose up and swept them away off in search of their dreams. |

Some of the phrases are broken by the linebreaks: "a young eye staring at dreams..between the stars and the clouds".
The "swept them away in search of their dreams" signifies the leaves being scattered from their swirling, so that each leaf is then pushed to go on in search of its own individual dream.
