Sweat Scent Rising

by Megan Auffart

Glass framed fingerprints on the walls
The smell of you still flavors my skin
A fragrance of weeds and dill and grass
is the incense smoke drifting about my head
dizzily making my eyes spin circles
and my brain sink downwards
towards a blissful comfort of sleepy feathers

When like this I can almost remember
The feel of your whispers upon my skin
and the glittering calm of your sweat scent rising
as we slumber in the gift of night

As I lie on this pillow of these genial memories
I can recall your tracing fingertips
Your soft, small breaths on the back of my neck
The feel of your mouth upon my forehead

While smiling on this gilded cushion
In this brilliant, dim lit mental state
I could almost summon you home

I could almost find you
