CANADA by Pilot
Topic: New Chords Postings

As 2017 is Canada's sesquicentennial year, it seemed like a good time to do a chord chart of Pilot's 1976 single "Canada", a track full of praise for the True North Strong and Free. This song got a lot of play on my local AM radio station back at the time (CKOC in Hamilton, Ontario.) The Scottish band is primarily known for their 1974 pop hit "Magic," which charted well in several countries and was a #1 hit in Canada.

"Canada" appeared on Pilot's third album Morin Heights (1976), the album's title reflecting the fact that it was recorded at the famous Le Studio in Morin Heights, Quebec. (Others who would later record there include the Police, David Bowie, April Wine, Queensryche, Nazareth, as well as Rush several times.) While Pilot's first two albums were produced by Alan Parsons, Morin Heights was overseen by noted Queen producer Roy Thomas Baker. "Canada" was the second of three singles released from the album. Three members of Pilot later went on to become members of the Alan Parsons Project.

Transcribed here is a chord chart of the song, including guitar tablature for the main riff and the guitar solo.
