Reason For A Hospice!
Dear Friends,
This picture is the reason that my heart has been seeing a need for a
Hospice where AIDS children can live and receive love, medical care and learn
that God loves them. This child is 9 years old and was born with aids. His
parents have both died and he is now with a grandmother who does not want him. She
refuses to bring him to the hospital for his medicine and he walks 5 kilometers
by himself to seek drugs and help. The picture does not show it, but he is
covered with boils and yet with no adult he does not receive treatment for
them. The lady with him is a social worker at the hospital who brought him to me
asking if we had a place for him. We do not as yet but we have the funding to
add rooms to my house and we will take him in as soon as possible. That
leads to the other problem. I have to find some sort of ongoing funding to run a
program such as the hospice. I know that God has always provided and will
continue to do so, but I feel that it would be unwise to start this program without
any commitments. This is not something that individuals can commit to
unless we ask if people would be interested in adopting one child who is in such
desperate need. I have not as yet gone into the details on the monthly operational costs.
I have received promises from the government to assist with medicines
and I also have a counsellor who has offered her services free of charge. I will
be planting food on my acreage which will go a long way in feeding the
children. As soon as the apartment in Booma is finished so that I can move out of
My house, we will begin setting things up for these children. If anyone
has any suggestions or thoughts I would be very grateful.
