Topic: On Democracy
At the end of all discussions following truths will remain :
* only the rich can help the poor ;
* only the smart can lead the stupid ;
* only the strong can support the weak ;

And the smart guys know that in Modern Democracy Stupidity, Ignorance an Irrationality rule. That's why the spin doctors, the hidden persuaders, the marketeers, the communication specialists, the advertisers govern and decide on what's possible and what is not. As a consequence liberal democracy will probably not mean "The End of History". Probably it will succumb to the immobilism generated by its internal contradiction. The irrationality of the system will make citizens unable to see the general good or if they see it, to vote for it.

Topic: On Democracy
A huge part of mankind considers Reason as an oppressor. Just like Kings once oppressed the slaves, Reason now tries to oppress the man in the street. To act against reason becomes a heroic deed, a confirmation of abstract freedom.

1. At the heart of Enlightenment is hidden a tremendous contradiction. At the same time that Enlightenment declared rationalism the new religion, it installed democracy as the perfect form of governance. Since the introduction of democracy it is no longer relevant whether you are smart or stupid. The stupid vote is worth as much as the smart vote. This is the essence of the progress democracy brought us. It is the characteristic schizophrenic feature of the area of Enlightenment.

2. Some people claim we do not learn from our mistakes. They claim that we neglect our knowledge of history and that raising the level of our knowledge of history would enable us to avoid repeating the mistakes from the past.
Unfortunately it is exactly via the transfer of the knowledge of our past that mistakes are passed on from one generation to the next. Just consider this : most nations have as their national holiday the day they obtained a final victory over an enemy or the day they suffered a humiliating defeat.

Topic: On History
1. The present is the infinitesimally small fraction of time squeezed between two oceans called Past and Future. We, who act, think and feel in this present, are the result of layers and layers of history. From our actions the void of the future will originate. Temporarily we are the masters of this time and space. We are the intermediaries between what has been and what will be. We are the bridge, the medium, that allows the past to flow into the future.
