In 1901 and 1908 the establishment of the army and the Navy Nurse Corps opened the door for women in the military. That was when the United States decided to get involved in World War One. That was when the goverment decided to use women to be part of the war. There were thirteen thousand women called to be part of the war.Women started taking over mens jobs when they went to war. There weren't any mans around so women had to do the mens jobs. Some of the jobs that women took over were growing crops, waking up early to go to work and other men jobs. This proved that women were able to raise children and tend a home.

Women found enployment in transport (the rail line and driving buses and trains),nursing, factories making ammunition, the woman also worked on planes as mechanics, and at farms. Before 1914 these jobs had been for men only. Women only worked as nurses. we think that it was kind of good that world war one happened because that was a way women had the chance to be equal as men. This right here is a quote that Elizabeth de T'serclaes. We thought that this quote is very important because it shows what women did to look like men so they can be part of the workers.“We slept in our clothes and cut our hair short so that it would tuck inside our caps. Dressing simply meant putting on our boots. There were times when we had to scrape the lice off with the blunt edge of a knife and our underclothes stuck to us. “ Elizabeth de T’Serclaes – a nurse on the front line

In 1920 the nineteen ammendment was wrote. The nineteen ammendment guarantees all American women the right to vote. Atleast American women were allowed to vote but African American women weren't.Women entertained the troops by giving out cigarettes, sewing on buttons, and hading out sweets.
