who are we and why are we here?
We are a group of students at the University of Maryland taking a women's studies course entitled Introduction to Women's Studies: Women, Art and Culture.
As our culminating project in this class, we were instructed to create an awareness project on a randomly assigned topic. We were assigned reproductive rights and after researching and discussing our topic, it became painfully obvious that many people did not have all of the necessary information on this topic. Thus, we have decided to create a website with tools that you can use to educate your campuses, classes and student groups and organizations. Also, feel free to download our handouts on the handouts page to use for distribution around your respective campuses.
We feel that education on this topic is very important because oftentimes, people do not make up their minds on abortion and other reproductive issues based on facts. People oftentimes choose to follow their parents or other role models' beliefs. Or perhaps they believe what their religion tells them to believe.
As faculty and student leaders, it is YOUR job to make sure students are educated and make educated decisions and form their opinions based on the facts. Feel free to browse our site and contact us with any questions you have.
