Christmas Eve Service Broadcast on INTV
As the season of Christmas continues, the Wauseon community enjoyed the broadcast of our annual Christmas Eve service. Copies of the DVD are availble by contacting the INTV office. A small donation will be required. The congregation would like to thank once more the volunteers from the community who shared their time and talent.
Baptism Planned
As in the tradition of the early Church, a baptism will be performed the Sunday following the celelbration of Epiphany. Elise Brzezinkski, daughter of Alex and Erin Brezezinski is the grand-daughter of Bill and Sandy Kerr. The baptismal service will be performed by Elise's proud grandfather, Bill Kerr, during the service of worship on January 8th.
Sign up for Coffee Hour
The tradition of "Coffee Hour" has been a part of the social life of our congregation for many years. After the Sunday service of worship, members and friends gather to enjoy coffee, punch and snacks. This informal gathering provides opportunities to greet our guests and share the latest news from our families and friends. Please remember to sign up on the calendar located in the Fellowship Hall to host this weekly event. Check the calendar for available dates in January.
Mitten Tree Ministry
Sunday, January 8th will be the last day to place a gift of mittens on the "mitten tree" located at the front of the sanctuary. According to Jill Oyer, the tradition of the "mitten tree" started with the Women's Fellowship. Small mitten-shaped ornaments were placed on the tree, and members and friends of the congregation could place financial donations in the gloves. The money that was collected was then used to buy gloves to be shared with the needy. In recent years, members and friends have purchased the gloves and place these on the tree. This year, the original mitten tree was replaced with a new one, and the clear twinkling lights shed a brightness in the sanctuary on dark December days. Thanks to all who contributed or who may add to the tree collection this week.
Annual Meeting 2012
On January 22nd, after the church service, members of the congregation are encouraged to stay for the Annual Meeting. A dinner will be served prior to the business meeting. Jill Oyer has requested that all committee reports be submitted prior to January 8th for the Annual Meeting publication.
Plans for the 150th Celebration
Plans for the celebration of the 150th Anniversary of our congregation continue to form. A booklet will be prepared that will contain a history of the the last 25 years a well as the prior 125 years. The section that contains information from the past 25 years will be written by Dean Buckmeyer. Lawrence McClarren is requesting that members and friends submit any photographs of church life that might potentially be published in the new booklet. Bill Kerr is planning the worship service scheduled for June of this year. Jill Oyer is preparing a mailing list. Please contact Jill with any addresses that you suspect may not currently be on the list. Our moderator, Kevin Smith is in charge of planning the meal for the celebration.
