Village of Sayward

The Village of Sayward is a seaside jewel on the North Eastern shore of Vancouver Island. It is a quaint little Village of 400 people that is snuggled between the Prince of Wales Mt. Range, also know as Mt. H'Kusam and Johnstone Straits.

The Village of Sayward offers excellent fishing in Johnstone Straits. The Port of Kelsey Bay is within walking distance from the Village and offers an excellent viewing point for orcas, white-side doll porpoises, sealions, eagles, menke whales,cruise ships and the fishing fleet.

The Village offers easy access to walking and hiking trails that have fantastic views of Mt. H'Kusam and Johnstone Straits. The Salmon Bay Estuary has a fantastic viewing point where you have an opportunity to see Trumpeter Swans, Canadian Geese, Blue Heron and many more species of birds.

In between the Village and Mt. H'Kusam is the Salmon River. This river and estuary offers many activities, kayaking, canoeing, hiking and bird watching are a favorite with visitors to the area.
