Teacher Information

This lesson was developed as part of the Louisiana Department of Content Standards. It's purpose is to help the student better understand the factors that caused the Union and the Confederacy to go to war against each other.

The student will visit websites given to them to reasearch four factors that the North and South went to war. These factors are: economic and social factors, political factors, slavery, and secession/expansion. The student will organize this information in a Venn Diagram. After this diagram is completed the student will then write a report explaining why the student chose a certain side to fight for using the four factors he/she researched.
