You sit in a chair as long as I have and you want to stay alive and focused, you have to make choices. My first choice in my life was whether I wanted to live or die after my accident. I am quite grateful that I chose life. I have to thank my wife Nanci for that because that was how we met. She was one of the aids that took care of me. She gave me hope and a desire to live.
Once I made that decision to stay alive, I knew I would have to thrive. I knew there was more to life than just rehab and sitting around feeling sorry for myself. I just could not go there. I have always loved working with my hands, but after I broke my neck, my hands did not work. I have found other ways to use them, not as traditionally as you would use your hands, but none the less, I am able to function with these here paws that I have.
I did property management for 15 years, and about the last 5 years, I began to notice the beauty that was right in front of my face. The property I managed sold so therefore I unemployed, which was not okay with me. I AM NOT A CRIPPLE! I was always an active boy and I am bound to be an active man. My wife and I purchased a home and I began to focus on my photographs and other creative sources within me such as music and video.
