I love Arizona and here is the reason why. Here, beneath a canopy of cottonwoods, surrounded by thickets of mesquites, fragrant acacias there is an array of native cactus. These cacti are most noted for their spines and thorns, which are, really modified leaves. Spines can be flat, hooked, curved, round, hair like or feathery. But for me, I admire their flowers which at times can be very showy, with large colorful blooms. They come in such a variety of colors and some are night blooming.
