The JazzExpress Jazz Jam hosted by Jazz in Blume

Jazz in Blume also hosts the popular weekly JazzExpress jazz jam at the Crazy Fish, Baja & Beyond restaurant (229 W. 1st. St. Tel: 360.457.1944) in

Port Angeles , Washington every Wednesday 6:30-9:30 pm.  (Non-smoking, no cover, young people under 21 welcome until 9:30 pm.)

This unprecedented jazz jam has been going on for two years now and shows no signs of stopping.  The quality of musicianship that takes to the stage each week is top notch. The JazzExpress Jazz Jam has been compared in quality to jams in New York , Chicago & New Orleans, a distinction that Jazz in Blume is very proud of. Thanks to the creativity of the core group, the jam takes on a new life every few months. Their fall/winter series 2005 where they feature a different high school jazz musician in their second set has been a big hit and has done much to enrich the musical education of our future musicians by offering them a chance to perform in a professional setting. Jazz in Blume is very proud to support our youth through music.

The Port Angeles Symphony Fall Pops Concert 2006

September 29, 7:30 PM at the Sequim Community Church - September 30, 7:30 PM at Vern Burton, Port Angeles

The Port Angeles Symphony Board unanimously voted to invite Jazz in Blume vocalist, Tracy Blume, to be their featured “guest artist” for their annual Fall Pops Concert 2006 under the direction of Mr. Adam Stern. Stay tuned for more details, it's sure to be an extravaganza! (That is, once we peel Tracy off the ceiling she's so excited!)

A Night at the Movies - Featuring great music that has graced some of the greatest and most popular films of all time.  Music Director Adam Stern, himself an ardent film buff, has selected a mix of classical music used in film, music by classical composers specifically written for film, and music by composers who specialized in creating scores for the cinema.  Films of many genres-comedy, drama, action/adventure,horror/science fiction, family-will be represented in this fun-filled program.  Stern will also provide commentary on the music and the films themselves, and share an anecdote or two about the actors, writers and directors behind the movies in question.  Jazz singer Tracy Blume, another fan of movies and movie music, will be on hand to present a bouquet of great songs that have been popularized because of their connection to the world of film.  Popcorn will be served, of course.

Shows We've Done...

August 2005 Music Series at the Olympic Cellars Winery

 Jazz in Blume performs

Jazz in Blume was thrilled to take their JazzExpress Jazz Jam on the road this past August right over to those working girls at the Olympic Cellars Winery, home of the Working Girl Wine Series. Jazz in Blume always has a good time whenever they play the winery. With a little luck, look for them to be featured again in 2006! In the meantime, check out the winery at www.olympiccellars.com or better yet, stop by for a tasting at 255410 Hwy 101 (between Sequim & Port Angeles).

The Adventures in Music Series (sponsored by the Port Angeles Symphony)

October 2005

This was a unique opportunity for Jazz in Blume to participate with the Port Angeles Symphony in their annual “Adventures in Music Series”.

Tracy Blume (vocals) along with Ray Wood (bass guitar) and Tom Svornich (drums) joined the Adventures in Music Series Director, Al Harris (piano) for a 15 concert tour of 12 elementary schools over a five day period from Clallam County to Neah Bay as they presented a 20 minute “brief history of jazz” to hundreds of local children.

They were enthusiastically received everywhere they went, Tracy is convinced it had something to do with the flapper costume she wore, it seemed to inspire and grab the children's attention. Of course, tossing in a few Disney tunes like “Everybody Wants To Be A Cat” along with “Cruella DeVille” didn't hurt. The most memorable moment for the musicians was at the Helen Haller Elementary School in Sequim when Tracy was literally mobbed following the concert by students seeking her autograph. If anyone got a picture of THAT we'd sure love to see it!

Without a doubt, this was a most fulfilling and rewarding experience for the Jazz in Blume team and truly inspired their “fall/winter” series at the JazzExpress Jazz Jam where they have been featuring local high school jazz musicians each week.
