THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, for all your emails, calls and concerns about the TOMORROW’S GIRLS Program. What happened? Where are we? What are we doing” Is everything OK. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, Tomorrow’s Girls had to take a short hiatus for the 2008 summer season. However, when one door closes another one opens up. In our efforts to continuously keep the program and it’s participants on the path of growth, We asked and received an opportunity to be a part of a wonderful organization which shares the same vision, if not more so, as Tomorrow’s Girls.
The program called GIRLS TRACK “Who’s Got Your Back” a character development program headed by Michael Reid and Shonda Allen-Carter, is a nine month program that challenges teenage girls’ ages 13 through 17 in ways that help them discover the talent and resources within themselves. The program brings girls together from every neighborhood in the city and inspires them to bond in sisterhood as they complete the character development and leadership course throughout the duration of the program. The program builds on success and achievement to empower girls so they can assume personal responsibility as they journey toward a positive and productive adulthood. Some of the activities throughout the year include tours to colleges and universities, a youth weekend retreat, a community service day, and trips to plays, sporting events and conferences. Also, the girls are exposed to some valuable information from workshop topics including Loving Yourself, Safe Sex Practice, Education, Relationships, Kwanzaa activity, and Volunteerism.
In addition they offer information about a range of opportunities such as after school programs, pre-college programs, internships, scholarships, educational websites, resources, and much, much more.
So, because of Girls Track kindness and willingness to share with us, Tomorrows Girls returned in 2009, stronger, better and more informed.
The Tomorrow's Girls were happily busy on the 2007 Martin Luther King Day of service. First we gave a free will offering of baked goods, beverages and some inspirational words, to commuters who had to work that day. Then we headed to the Chestnut Hill Senior Center, where we shared some poetic words of empowerment and hand made gifts, with the grateful and attentive seniors. It was one beautiful day. See for yourself from the photo's below.
On Saturday April 8,2006 Despite the wind-driven rain, along with over 1000 caring people, TOMORROW'S GIRLS as part of the OPERATION WE CARE OUTREACH MINITRIES, had the privilge of participating in the 10th Anniversary of the Walk Against Hunger.
Clearly, nothing would have kept them away, as hunger knows no boundaries. All gathered at the Eakins Oval, in front of the Art Museum and after some inspiring words, joyful tunes, and invigorating warm-up exercises, kicked off this 8-mile walk.
The TOMRROW'S GIRLS, who were in attendance, like everyone else there, didn't care about the rain. And although they may not have fully understood how important what they were doing was, they all knew they were doing something good, for people less fortunate then them.
It was truly a beautiful day. No weather wise, but in spirit. The spirit of giving. The spirit of doing. The spirit of love for your fellow human being.

On Saturday, June 24, 2006, at the Samson House, a senior citiziten facility, Tomorrow's Girls again joined Outreach Ministries, as part of of Rev. Yvonne Florance's vision called, “Bridging the Gap between our Seniors and Our Youth: A Day of Crafts." Along with youth from GSJ Minitries and Joseph Dreams the girls gave back to a community who has given them so much.
**
First some of the seniors showed the girls how to crochet, knit and needle point. Others taught them to make jewelry, arrange flowers and design their own T-shirts.
Afterwards, the girls intertained the seniors with song, poetry and praise dancing.
At the end of the day, the lesson learned by all was, no matter your age, we all have something to give to each other...
...LOVE, LAUGHER, FRIENDSHIP & TIME.
