Hi, my name is Teresa.  I have been married to my husband Mike almost 25 years.  We have 2 grown children; Amber & Wayne.  We have 5 grandchildren.  We all live in Avinger, Texas.  When I am not working at Titus Regional Medical Center, or watching my grandkids playing, you will probably find the helping my sister researching our ancestors.

What I am going to tell you about, is genealogy research.  My sister and I both use a program called Family Tree Maker.  This program is the tool that you use to input all the information that you get doing your web search.  Just for starters, you will need lots of printer paper and ink cartridges.

First, you will build your tree.  As you get started in whatever program you are going to use, you will start with yourself and your immediate family entering and editing  personal information and then you branch out from there. It is most helpful if you have as much information already written down about your grandparents their parents.  The more information you have to start with, the better off you are.

Second, you will start your search.  There are several websites that you can use for your search such as:

http://www.ancestry.com

http://www.genealogy.com

http://www.oneworldtree.com

http://www.rootsweb.com

http://www.usgenweb.com

Third, you will design your tree.  There are several different ways that you can display the tree.  There are:  pedigree, ancestor, or descendant.

Fourth, then you can share your information by creating your own family website, posting it on forum sites or by e-mail to different family members:  http://www.myfamily.com
