The Samuel Finley Kennedy Family

Samuel was the oldest son of David Kennedy and Peggy Faulkner

Kennedy. He was born 3 Nov 1811 in Garrard Co, Ky and died 4 May 1887 in

Ray Co., Mo., buried in the Hickory Grove Baptist Cemetery, rural

Richmond, Mo.

Samuel married 1) Edna Nicholson, b about 1811 in Ky and died

before 1838 in Ky, a daughter of James Nicholson and Polly Procter.

Sam and Edna had one child, a daughter, Margaret, born about 1833 in

Garrard or Boyle Co, Ky. She married John Austin, 12 Nov 1852 in Boyle

Co., Ky. I know nothing more about her. She did not accompany the family

to Missouri.

Samuel married 2)Catherine Willis, born abt 1817; died before 1850

in Ky. She was a daughter of Edward Willis and Ellender Ham.

Children are a) Sterling Kennedy, born about 1840 in Garrard Co, Ky and

died after Aug 1863. He was a guerilla with Quantrill and did not come

home. Supposedly drowned in a river crossing.

b)Mary Elizabeth Kennedy, born 14 Nov 1840, Garrard

Co, Ky, died 18 Feb 1921 in Cass Co., Mo; married William E Talbot 31

Dec 1856 in Cass Co., Mo. She is buried in the Dayton Cemetery, Cass Co.

Mo.

c)Susan Frances Kennedy, born 15 Feb 1843, Garrard

Co, Ky., died 3 Jul 1911, Ray Co. Mo., buried in the Hardin Cem. Ray Co,

Mo.; married Henry Marrs 26 Nov 1867 at Hardin, Ray Co. Mo.

d)Edna Kennedy, born 13 apr 1844, Garrard Co, Ky,

died 26 Jul 1903, Lathrop, Clinton Co., Mo.; married Alexander C

Anderson 12 Mar 1867, Ray Co., Mo.

e)David Willis Kennedy, born 15 Dec 1846, Garrard

Co., Ky; died 15 Apr 1903, Richmond, Ray Co., Mo. David also rode with

Quantrill and come home gravely wounded. A severe leg injury left him a

cripple and ruined his health. He never married.

f)Samuel Finley Kennedy, Jr. was born 20 Oct

1849, Garrard or Boyle Co. Ky,; died 23 Dec 1915, St. Joseph, Buchanan

Co., Mo., buried in the Richmond Cem. Ray Co., Mo. He married Jennie

Drew Ballinger, a daughter of William Roten Ballinger and Agnes Bibb.

They married 8 Mar 1883. Had children Will, Margaret and Frank.

Sam married 3)Keturah G Mullins Kennedy, 1 Mar 1850 in Boyle Co.,

Ky. Keturah was the widow of Sam's brother Andrew.

a) Nancy Jane Kennedy, born 20 Feb 1852 in

Garrard or Boyle Co., Ky; died 5 Jan 1932 at Red Cloud, Webster Co.,

Ne; married Milous Sours, 28 Oct 1875, at home in Ray Co., Mo.

b)Martha W Kennedy, born about 1852, Garrard or

Boyle Co. Ky. She married Thomas W Finch in 1870 Ray Co. Mo. They moved

to Palo Pinto Co., Tx. I don"t know much about them.

c) Silas M Kennedy, born abt 1853 in Garrard or

Boyle Co, Ky., died 23 apr 1885 Ray Co. Mo. Buried at Hickory Grove Cem.

He never married.

d) Sarah Catherine Kennedy, born 1 Oct 1856,

Cass Co., Mo., died after 1928; married Madison Johnson, 25 Feb 1879 at

Ray Co., Mo.

Sam married 4) Mary Ann Fields, 25 Oct 1877 at Ray Co. Mo.

a) George Allen Kennedy, born 15 Aug 1879,

Richmond, Ray Co. Mo., died 27 Jun 1935, Limon, Lincoln Co., Co.

married 1) Mary Wall about 1901. She died 4 Jul 1913 from an auto

accident at Limon, Co. George married 2) Alice Wilhelmine Ford, 15 Sep

1915 at Limon. One child a son, Ford Kennedy, born 10 Sep 1917. George

Allen Kennedy, was a physician in Limon, Colo. Also acted as physician

for the UPPR.
