RELIGIONS OF THE KENNEDYS
For several centuries most of the Kennedys lived in Scotland. Most of the Scotch and, likewise the Kennedys were and are of the Scottish Presbyterian Faith. Practically all of the Kennedys, who went from Scotland to the North of Ireland, and their descendants, remained Presbyterian.
There are some Kennedys of the Catholic Faith in the British Isles and many in America. It is estimated that their number does not exceed 5 to 10 percent, of the entire Kennedy Population.
The Kennedys who came from the British Isles to America continued in the faith of their fathers, for the most part, though their descendants in this country today will be found in the membership of practically all of the various churches. It is estimated that, all of the Kennedys in America who are church members, at least 90% are of the Protestant faith.
Biographical Sketches of the Kennedys appear in Who's Who in America. Their religious faiths are shown as follows: Catholic 3; Congregationalist 1; Episcopal 3; Presbyterian 7; Protestant, other 2; Religion not Stated 13. Total, 29.
