This is the page for the members of the Society for the Protection of His Dark materials. We currently have 38 confirmed Members and 2 Honorary Members.

Please note that the Honorary Members have not confirmed their membership and we do not represent their personal views. However, given that it is Pullman's masterpiece we are trying to protect (and that he has stated he is "worried") we have given him Honourary Membership and we have given Sir Tom membership because we believe him to be a better choice for the scriptwriter.

Philip Pullman"if you don`t like the thought of seeing the story on the screen - don`t go and see it."
Sir Tom Stoppard(on his screenplay and Chris Weitz) ""As far as I was made aware, New Line Cinema and Philip Pullman all liked it. Then Chris Weitz got the job. And he likes to write his own scripts."

Stargirl"HDM is one of the most brilliant pieces of writing ever and no one will ever be able to portray it even close to properly in any other way. The movie will kill the spirit of the story for those who have not read the book becuase they won't know the true story."
Cookiemonster (Eleanor)"-"
The Raevyn"I believe that this film is going to make any one of the HP films look like a well crafted, well acted, intricate masterpiece of film making. Oh yes. I kid you not."
Enitharmon (Rosie)"It can only be about turning brilliant writing into a banal film"
Myriad"-"
Ceres (Peter)- “H: (pauses) Let's stick with Pan. Like Teflon.” (from The Pantalaimon Perplex)
Huginn (Michael)"At core, there's only one question involved: do you think Hollywood would willingly let making a masterpiece that is true to the novels and inclusive of their themes get in the way of making a buck?"
Maler"-"
heatheradair (Heather)"-"
Kahlan"-"

Moonflash (Ralphie)"Technically it could be an excellent movie. Technically New Line will do a great job. Technically the moon is made of blue cheese."
siren_darkstarr (Bethan)- “I don't want it to be Hollywood-ised. It's a perfectly good book, and it doesn't need a movie to promote it. If people would get off their arses and read it, they'll enjoy it more than a movie."
surge (Diolmhain) "I feel that the film will be good... if it is made by the right people... namely HDM heads "
Angel to follow (Lauren-Jane)"why bother with a film when the book is such a masterpiece?"
Anbaricity"Sure, a good movie is possible. But not with the current conditions. And the worst thing is the futility of it all."

Fionnuala"i am not a book snob in fact i'm an actor but in my humble opinion it seems nothing short of evil to take something so wonderful and magical and beautiful and try to cash in and make a movie out of it."
Louise Ryan"the books don't need a film to get the message across"
Anna Hansen"And to see that favourite book being sold as a piece of meat on a market and made into a Holywood-production, only to earn the people behind the movie money, makes your heart ache!"
Chris Brown"These books have helped to shape and alter my views on the world and I beleive that a movie form would wrongfully smother the ideals and main plot this story gives forth!"
Sarah-Jane Joyce"it's so ridiculous that they would try to make it a film"
