On with the Show! Troupe participants will prepare, rehearse, and
perform a small one-act play. Through this workshop, they will continue
building performance skills of voice, character, and movement. Time & Location: Saturday,
February 23, 10:00 a.m.- 1:00
p.m.., Englehardt Library for “Auditions” (Assigning Roles&
Blocking). Time & Location: Wednesdays, March 5, 12, 19, 26,
and April 2, Cherry Creek Elementary, 6-7:30 p.m. The
performance will be April 2 at 7:30 p.m.
at Cherry Creek Elementary. Fee: $50 (15% discount to LAAC members). Ages:
7 - 18

VELVETEEN RABBIT CASTING

A great big thank you from Thebes Youth to all of you who showed up for “Velveteen Rabbit” auditions. We had 54 people trying out for 11 parts, and as usual, the casting decisions were very difficult. However, Coleen has made her selections on the “Velveteen” cast, listed below:

Otherwise, we will plan on seeing you this Wednesday at Cherry Creek Elementary (12675 Foreman St, Lowell, MI 49331) from 6-8 p.m. for your first rehearsal. (I will be calling those who were cast but do not attend the first rehearsal to make sure you still want the role. If not, we may be casting alternates from those who attended auditions.)
To those of you who were not cast, again, thanks for auditioning… you are all extremely talented, and we definitely want to see all of you at future Thebes Youth auditions! And PLEASE plan on coming to see the show… we have great group and advance rates on tickets… contact the LAAC at (616) 897-8545 or go to their website at www.lowellartscouncil.org for more information.
For anybody who was not cast and wants to help out backstage with the show, please e-mail me at alles@comcast.net. Our major need right now is in the costuming area, so if anybody has ability and interest to help with costumes, please let me know.
Also, for any of the kids who were not cast but still want to perform, ON WITH THE SHOW!, Thebes Youth’s performing group, will be putting on a small one-act play on April 2. We accept acting enthusiasts from 7-18 years of age, and signing up for the show guarantees you a part! There is a participation fee of $50 (15% discount for LAAC members) for this workshop/performance opportunity to cover costs of the show, since the performance is free. Rehearsals will be Saturday, February 23, from 10-1, at the Lowell Library, and then Wednesdays in March (5, 12, 19, 26) from 6-7:30 at Cherry Creek Elementary, with a final rehearsal on April 2 from 6 to 7:30 and then the performance itself on April 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Cherry Creek Elementary. If interested, please contact the Lowell Area Arts Council at (616) 897-8545. I’m not sure what the show will be yet… we have to see how many sign up… but if you have suggestions, please let me know! (ON WITH THE SHOW! will also tentatively be doing a show in the Spring and “Shakespeare in the Park” in the summer… stay tuned!)
