Talented K9 dog training does not have just one training method. We use 3 different, basic types of training. Which one we use with you and your dog will be up to you. We will use the one you are most comfortable with, and the one that will work best for your dog. I have had a lot of experience with all three training methods and can get great results with all three. Let me tell you a little about each one. Positive Training / Clicker Training: This is one of the most commonly used today. Training the positive way uses a Lot of treats and other rewards your dog likes. The reward most commonly used are treats. Balanced Training: This method is an in between kind of method. It uses the Positive style by using treats and rewards in training, sometimes even the clicker as well. After the dog knows what you want of them, you would then add in corrections for not doing what you've asked. Adding in consequences for not listening gets a little more reliability. Praise and Discipline: Here, no treats are used at all. This method is focused on getting your dog off leash reliable, no matter where you are, no matter the distraction. You get a reliable dog that listens the first time you say. The rewards used here are; Praise, Toys, and Freedom! The Discipline is; using a corrective type collar to correct the dog to let them know, no that is not acceptable, I'd like for you to do this instead. So that is a peak at the three different training methods used here. Again, we use what you feel comfortable with, what works for your dog, and what type of dog you want to live with. |
