Lonely Vigil
Loneliness was something else that a sailor had to put up with when serving aboard a naval man-of-war. Sometimes it was possible to find a companion or two at one of the gun mounts. Here you could stare out to sea and meditate for awhile. It helped providing that you didn't have to duck any incoming shells at the moment.
