February 23, 2009...TIGERS DOMINATE THE SHARKS IN GAME 1 OF THE QUARTERFINALS Last night at the Vaughan Sports Village a determined Streetsville Tigers team showed up and dominated the Humber Valley Sharks. The Sharks have been dormant since the end of the regular season while the prelim teams battled it out so they could be excused for starting slowly but it was actually the Tigers who looked impressive with their execution of the little things, it seemed make the difference. The Sharks definitely sport a few larger players and at times seemed to want to play the intimidation game but the Tigers maintained their composure. Unfortunately Ben Parschuk suffered an injury early in the game that prevented him from returing. All the best BEN!!!! Speedy Revovery!!! The Tigers dominated play from the initial drop of the puck and passed it around with surgeon like accuracy. Of note Andres Garzon and Ryan Johnson were effective back-checkers throughout the game. Davis Stan continued to impress as he quarterbacked the play whenever he was on the ice. Dustin Hayward also continued his consistent and steady play during these playoffs. The ever dangerous Jeremy Hunt and David Gallo were at their best, sniping aroung the opponents cage, looking for any opportunity to pounce. Hunt even attempted a slam dunk into the net with some fancy hand work. While the 1st 2 periods remained tight, the 3rd period saw the Tigers go on a scoring binge with final being 6-1. "Bear" Emanuele backstopped for Tigers and despite an early goal remained steady for the rest of the game, frustrating the Sharks scorers. Next game is at Lakeshore Arena Tuesday evening. The Tigers will be looking to repeat their performance but you know the Sharks will be much sharper and looking to tie up the series. |
