December 11, 2008...TIGERS EDGE THE ETOBICOKE CANUCKS 3-1

What started out to be a hard fought, fiercely competitive game ended up being a marathon with probably every penalty in the book being called against our Tigers including a penalty shot. However the boys persevered and maintained their composure to earn a well deserved 3-1 win.

David Johnston started the scoring in the 1st period by stepping into a laser that pierced the Canucks goalies armour. The Canucks responded with of course a power play goal to make it 1-1. In response Ryan Johnston crashed the Canucks end, came up with the puck as he fought of the defenders and passed it out to waiting Jeremy Hunt putting the Tigers up by a goal.

The Tigers were playing with a short bench from the onset with Justin Iskra providing yeomans service on the defense, backed up by Captain Derrick Johnson. Mackie Deman played a spirited game until he was banished from the game after a questionable call. Davis Stan played a confident game and as usual was sucessful in getting under the skin of several Canucks players. Matt Emanuele was stellar, making timely stops from in close, frustrating the Canucks scorers.

Jeremy Hunt provided the Tigers with some breathing space with an empty net goal late in the game making the final score 3-1.

Next game is Saturday night against the Vaughan Panthers.
