SEPTEMBER 18, 2007…STREETSVILLE TIGERS TROUNCE NORTH STARS 6-0 TO OPEN THE SEASON
After what seemed like a long off season the Streetsville Tigers opened 07-08 season with a convincing 6-0 win over the Mississauga North Stars (MNS) in their home rink. Both teams had great chances in the 1st period with the MNS goaltender making some spectacular saves to keep them in the game. It was a fast paced affair with both teams trading scoring chances but they were unable to put the rubber in the net. Part way through the 1st the Tigers suffered a major setback when Ryan Johnston collided with a MNS player and jammed his right arm. He left the game with an undisclosed injury.

Early in the 2nd Period Kyle Morrison opened the scoring season for the Tigers with a spectacular solo effort, ending it with a laser to the top left corner. At 9:08 Justin Iskra fired in a rebound after Brendan Post was denied by the MNS goalie. 3 minutes later Jace Mcgrath was rewarded for his hard work and put his name on the score sheet by walking in from the corner after an adept pass from Morrison. It then took only 30 seconds for Adam Galbraith to score on power play to make it 4-0 only to have David Canavan score 10 seconds later for the Tigers 5th goal.

Kyle Morrison made it bookends by finishing the scoring for the Tigers when he deflected the point shot by Derrick Johnston, making the final score 6-0.

"Bear" Emanuele made the stops when called upon to earn his 1st shutout of the season.

Coach Canavan was in mid-season form albeit from the opposite side of the player’s bench, motivating his Tigers at every chance. It appeared that there were some secret hand signals going on between the coaching staff…NAH, it was just Mike pointing out to the refs a few things that they missed along the way.

The Tigers look forward to their next game on Sunday evening against the York Toros.
