JUNE 1, 2007…WHO ARE THOSE CYCLONES? THEY LOOK GOOD!!
The Streetsville Tigers entered the "Bring your Best" tournament this weekend using an alias the "Cyclones". After some last minute scrambling by Manager Cole Johnston, the Tigers were able to field a team to face what appears to be mainly AAA players.

In their 1st game last night their opponents were the Vipers from Niagara Falls and it was clear from the warm-up that physical size would be a factor as well as the Tigers "short bench". The Tigers fell behind quickly but came back on a goal that appeared to be deflected by Jace McGrath on Kyle Morrison's shot. That tied the game at 1-1. Despite this the Tigers appeared tenative. The Vipers scored again with less than 5 minutes left to take the lead but Tigers rookie Kyle Morrison tied it back up on a nice wrap around making the score 2-2.

In the 2nd period, while on he powerplay the Tigers took the lead 3-2 on a goal by Bronson who banged in a rebound from close in. The Vipers continued to press and started to wear down the Tigers with some punishing hits. To their credit the Tigers answered back with some hits of their own and sent a message that they weren't going to be pushovers.

Entering the 3rd period the Tigers were starting to show some fatigue. With fresh legs on the bench the Vipers mounted an attack, exhibiting their ability to skate to the openings and execute some adept play making. they tied the score 2 minutes into the 3rd on a beautiful solo effort which seemed to swing the momentum. The Vipers scored 5 unanswered goals but the Tigers showed some real guts, taking some big hits and coming back after falling behind early in the game.

Conor Clark was a standout between the pipes, literally taking shots off his noggin several times. Captain Corvetti hung in for the entire game after taking a bone crunching check early in the 1st period. Tgers next play Saturday at 1:25pm and 8:10pm at Etobicoke Ice Sport Arena.
