OCTOBER 5, 2007…TIGERS WIN GAME 1 OF BURLINGTON TOURNAMENT...WE'LL TAKE THIS ONE AND SLEEP ON IT With cranberries and turkey weighing heavily on everyones mind the Streetsville Tigers headed west to Burlington. Is it really time for hockey? With the sight of shorts and t-shirts still the dominate dress of choice outside the arena it's a bit of a dilemna as we reach into the closet before each game...sandals or mukluks...tank top or parka...thong or snow pants!!! Sorry..let's get back to the game. The opponents for game 1 were from Oshawa and while 1st 2 periods were a bit flat the 3rd period is the one that we are hoping will be a sign of better things to come. Kyle Morrison continued his torrid pace by scoring the 1st Tiger's goal at 3:29 after taking a pass from Mark Shiozaki and firing a low laser to the glove side. Unfortunately they were unable to add to their lead and then early in the 2nd period Oshawa tied it up from in front of the net on a nice setup. To make matters worse the Tigers took turns in the penalty box giving the Oshawa team several man advantages of which on one they scored to take a 2-1 lead at 7:10. Despite this one getting past Conor Clark he was outstanding and kept the Tigers in the game. Maybe it was a bit of a wake up call but 2 minutes later Mark Shiozaki scored from the point while the Tigers had the man advantage. With a fresh sheet of ice to open the 3rd period the Tigers swarmed the Oshawa goaltender and after just 23 seconds David Gallo lifted the puck into the net from Ray Cadeau to give the Tigers the win.
